Banco Bradesco Gets New President To Replace Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi

Brazilian banking major, Banco Bradesco finally found its new President. The firm was in search of the new executive since October 2017 as the current President of the firm, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi, appointed as the Chairman of the group. One of the vice presidents of the firm, Octavio de Lazari Junior will take charge of the leadership of the banking firm from March 12, 2018. He is also serving as the President of the insurance wing of the banking firm called Bradesco Seguros Group. Since the bank has a long history of hiring internal people for the top post, the firm did not need an extensive search for the right candidate.

It is confirmed that the new management will take charge of the leadership from March 12, after the Director Board approves the management. Additionally, Lazari Junior will also replace Trabuco Cappi in Executive Council of the bank as its President. Post-March 12, Trabuco Cappi will continue to lead the bank as the Chairman after handing over the responsibility of President to Lazari Junior. Interestingly, reports close to bank confirm that Lazari Junior was not on the favorite list to replace Trabuco Cappi when the company started searching for the new executive in October 2017. However, he was one of the longest-serving employees of the firm with nearly four decades of collaboration with the bank.

Lazari, 54, will continue to lead the insurance arm of the bank as its President even while he assumes the new role. He began collaborating with the bank at the age of 15 by serving as an office boy in a branch in Sao Paulo. Interestingly, Lazari Junior was directly employed with the bank during those days and was part of an agency. He became the manager of that agency in a few years with his hard work. Lazari Junior said that he was not aiming to be the President of the firm but was keen on improving himself.

In the late 90s, he started working with the bank in the credit section. Lazari Junior became a director with responsibilities of Retail, Small and Medium Business, and Corporate segments. In 2010, he was appointed as a department director with responsibilities of loans. In 2017, he was appointed as the President of the insurance wing as well as the VP of the bank. While coming to Trabuco Cappi, the career journey started in 1969 as an office clerk – he was aged 18 years then.

The hard work of Trabuco Cappi helped his path to the senior management of the bank easier. He made some significant contributions to the bank as its President since 2009. The digital banking efforts of the bank were undertaken by him, and the intensive efforts of Trabuco Cappi helped more than 50% of the bank customers moving to digital services. It also helped the bank to cut down its operational expenses significantly. Trabuco Cappi was instrumental in some high profile acquisitions such as the takeover of HSBC Brazil operations. The move helped the bank to expand its business and market capitalization.
